About...

Named for the Kiawah (KEE-a-wah) Indians, who inhabited the island through the 1500s, this barrier island is only 25 minutes from downtown Charleston, but miles away from any place else!  Kiawah Island is a private preserve and likely the most prominent luxury oceanfront resort and spa ever established on a barrier island.   It’s a lush maritime forest and home to more than 140 species of birds.  Kiawah has over 10 miles of uninterrupted white sand beach and abundant sea oats along the dunes.  Kiawah Island is a natural beauty, filled with lagoons, marshes, fresh water estuaries.  In between of Kiawah and Seabrook, is Bohicket Marina wet and dry storage slips.
