About...
The Awendaw / McClellanville area is a 30 mile stretch that starts just north of Mount Pleasant and extends to the southern end of Georgetown SC. While the land area is large the towns themselves only cover 2.2 and 8.4 sq. mi. each. Settled back in the 1700’s, both are known as small fishing towns, but seafood industries are still the primary economic resource today. On any given day you’ll find shrimping fleets docked along the Carolina Seafood Retail Market in McClellanville and each summer the town of Awendaw hosts its annual Blue Crab Festival.
In the rural areas homes are generally older ranch style, but don’t let these quiet towns fool you. Much like Wadmalaw and Cainhoy / Wando areas of Charleston, Awendaw / McClellanville holds some of the most secluded, beautiful, and accessible deepwater real estate available and large custom built lowcountry luxury homes are easily found. Some in gated waterfront communities with private docks and direct intercostal waterway access. At the very south end of Awendaw just outside of Mt.
